What is Capri Like?
We are a twenty-two bed facility which means that the environment maintains a strong family feeling. Most people stay at Capri on average three to five weeks.What will I need to bring?
Walking shoes / Togs / A weeks change of clothing / MP3 player if you have one / Any medication you are currently on / Personal toiletries / A warm jacketWhat will happen when I arrive?
Depending on your needs, you will see a doctor soon after your admission to assess your individual requirements. If you are detoxing we will not expect much of you during the first couple of days. As you begin to feel better we will encourage you to participate in the full programme. You will be assigned a Case Manager who will complete a full assessment. This will help us get to know you and work with you on your treatment plan.What are the bedrooms like?
All of our bedrooms are twin share with ensuites. All rooms are air-conditioned and are cleaned daily Monday to Friday. Fresh towels and linen are available as needed.What is the food like?
Food is prepared by our own chef, if you have any dietary needs see our chef at the time of your admission and he will be happy to meet these requirements. We like having fun and on Friday nights we have a pizza party and watch DVDs.Will I be able to exercise?
Yes we have a gym with two walkers, bikes, cross trainers, and rowing machine available. We also have a spa pool, heated swimming pool and sauna. The facility is situated on the edge of the Tamaki River which has a 3 km walking track.What do I do if I need any personal supplies?
We are close to two major shopping centres. If you need supplies, we will either get these for you, or you may be able to go out on the weekly shopping trip, or you may have a pass at the weekend.When can my family phone me?
Capri has a dedicated consumer phone line; the best times for family and frineds to ring are between 7am - 8 am and 12pm - 6.30pm due to morning treatment activities. The phone number will be given to you after admission.When can my family visit me?
All visitors must be approved by your Case Manager. Family may visit on Wednesdays for Family Night from 5.30 onwards and on Saturdays and Sundays from 12.30pm - 5.00pm. Children are welcome on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, we ask that you closely supervise them.Is Capri a lockdown facility?
All consumers at Capri are here voluntarily. While consumers are detoxing or early in treatment we ask that they do not leave the premises, this is mainly for health and safety reasons. After you have been here about a week your Case Manager will talk to you about outings, walks or family visits.Will my confidentiality be respected?
Absolutely, we will not discuss whether or not you are in treatment if someone rings and asks. All visitors are by invitation only and are required to sign a confidentiality register.When will I have to pay?
Payment for the first three weeks is made at the time of admission. Further weeks can be paid at the end of the third week.Is it normal to feel nervous?
Yes it is normal to feel nervous; you will find that it won’t be long before you will feel comfortable.Can I be picked up from the airport?
If necessary, one of our staff will be at the airport to meet you. Your will need to forward the flight details. The staff will have a sign with your name on it.Do we go out when we are in treatment?
Once consumers are out of the detox phase there are a number of outings that you may participate in. Consumers have the opportunity to experience mutual self-help support groups and tenpin bowling. You will also have the opportunity to walk around the Panmure Basin in the afternoon as part of your exercise programme should you wish.Can I bring my computer and cell phone?
Limited use of cell phones and access to the internet is aloud at Capri. We also have a landline for your use. If you need to check bank accounts etc you can arrange computer access with your Case Manager.Can I do my personal washing?
Yes Capri has a number of washing machines, dryers, and drying lines for your use. All other washing is done by commercial cleaners.What about my valuables?
We suggest you do not bring valuables. We do have personal lockers available. If you do decide to bring valuables this will be at your own risk.Is there ongoing support?
If you are in Auckland there are support meetings on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings for three months and Wednesday evenings for twelve months. We also have weekly support meetings in Wellington and Christchurch.What about family involvement?
There is a family support group on Wednesday evenings in Auckland.
